The Charitable Givings Committee and New & Expectant Moms invite you to an event at the Mother's Milk Bank Northeast, a non-profit milk bank located in Newton Upper Falls. Come learn about the amazing mission of the Mother's Milk Bank to provide pasteurized donor human milk to fragile babies throughout the northeast while enjoying (non donor!) milk and cookies.
We will gather at the MMB offices at 9:30 am for socializing and light refreshments, then head on a tour of the Mother's Milk Bank offices where they recieve, store, pasteurize, and bottle donor milk before sending them off to NICUs and hospitals for babies in need. After the tour, we will have the opportunity to volunteer labeling bottles and assembling packing boxes. Babies are welcome to join, there is plenty of room for stroller parking inside.
WMF will be working together with the Mother's Milk Bank Northeast to collect items for NICU babies leaving Boston Medical Center, many of whom come from immigrant, uninsured, and unemployed families. These babies are often sent home with much needed donor milk from Mother's Milk Bank, so we will be collecting the following items to create care packages:
Winter weight footie pajamas (newborn or 0-3 months), Flannel blankets, Fleece sleep sacks, and Fitted winter car seat covers.
This event is free, but we ask for attendees to bring a new or like new item (gender neutral preferred) for these NICU babies in need. We also encourage members to consider a monetary donation to the Mother's Milk Bank Northeast.
