  DanceFIT is very excited to bring back their unique babywearing barre class and is offering WMF an exclusive, free demo class.  Babywearing BalletFIT is a very special class for mom and baby to spend with each other dancing, toning, bonding and meeting other new or expecting moms. You will enjoy a low impact-toning workout while your baby gets to experience all of your movements, rocking motions, fun music and special time close to you. In BalletFIT you will begin by warming up at the barre with plies, tendus, releves & other ballet inspired exercises. We will continue with center work including upper body port de bras, ballet positions and choreography all while wearing your little one. The conclusion on the floor will be spent on mats with your baby out of the carrier. Here we will focus on cardio, strength & stretching.  

  

  This class is geared for moms with babies age 6 weeks to about 6-9 months (depending on how comfortable they are in the carrier).

  All moms have different physical needs in this new phase of life - please make sure you have permission to exercise from your doctor and let DanceFIT know in class if you have any specific injuries or needs. We are so excited to work with you in this class!

  Please note, this is for members of the 2022-2023 season only, which begins on October 1, 2022. You must renew your membership prior to the event through the website or on the Wild Apricot app.

  This event will be capped at 150 members, preference on the waitlist will be given to 2022-2023 WMF volunteers, if you would like to volunteer with WMF please email president@wellesleymothersforum.com or reply to this email.

  The Bar Method is a boutique fitness studio offering barre classes for students of all levels. Please join us for a free, customized session led by highly-trained instructors that will leave students with long, lean sculpted muscles. These exercises are safe and effective for any age and every body, including modifications for pregnant women and students with injuries.

  Registrants will need to register with Bar Method in advance, so plan to arrive by 9:15 to fill out any necessary paperwork. Class is 1 hour and starts promptly at 9:30. After class, stay to mingle and enjoy mimosas with fellow moms for a fabulous morning!

  Registration limit to first 25, so please sign up asap. Complimentary childcare is available for up to 10 registrants! Preference on the waitlist will be given to current WMF volunteers. Please reply to this email if you'd like to volunteer.

• Virtual Lecture: Siblings Have Special Needs Too: Caring for Siblings of Kids With Special Needs by Nadine Briggs

  As a parent, you want to give equal attention to all of your children. But when parenting a child with special health care needs, that can be hard. It may feel like there's never enough of your attention to go around — and your other kids might begin to feel left out.

  The advantages to having a brother or sister with special needs are numerous and include being more empathetic, more responsible and more resilient. However, these typically developing siblings also shoulder tremendous burdens that are not often or easily discussed. While every sibling — and every family — is different, Nadine Briggs has found some common experiences including her own family experience that she will share with our group.

  

  Nadine Briggs is a best-selling author and an accomplished social educator. She has expertise and certifications in bullying and cyber-bullying prevention, Foundations of Positive Psychology including learned optimism and resilience, and sibling relationships. Nadine Briggs will go over practical tips for kids to overcome common social challenges. She will offer social skills and friendship advice and immediately actionable tips to navigate common social situations that can be challenging, such as: How to Join a Group; How to Safely Handle Angry Feelings; Handling Rejection and Exclusion; Working Things Out & Sharing Fairly; Being a Good Guest and Host, Playground Success; Caring for Siblings of Kids With Special Needs; and much more!

  There will be 15 minutes of social time prior to the lecture starting at 8 pm. There will also be time at the end of the discussion for questions and answers.

  Looking for a fun outdoor Autumn activity to do with the kiddos? Join us at Lookout Farm to decorate sugar pumpkins and rock out to live music brought to you by one of our favorite local musical acts, Jammin with You. 

  We will have picnic tables set up for pumpkin decorating. Guests can also order their own food, cider, and/or beer from Lookout's restaurant from the QR codes at each table. A costume parade and Halloween-themed dance party will follow pumpkin decorating, so we encourage all kids to wear their costumes! There will be prizes for best costume and best dancer!

  Give your carved pumpkins a second life and donate them to the lovely recused animals at Unity Farm Sanctuary. The special fall harvest "Pumpkin Tours" are a fun, hour+ guided tour, where you will visit with our 225+ rescued farm animal residents, hear about some of their journeys, and learn about the ways they adapt to the changing seasons.

  Pumpkin Tours differ from our General Sanctuary Tours, so repeat visitors will have much to enjoy. ​ These tours also include special feeding of seasonal treats (including old pumpkins!) for some of our animal residents.

  Get up close and personal and with live animals during this educational and interactive show! There will be a fun and informative presentation by a Rainforest Reptiles Team herpetologist of a large red or yellow foot tortoise, a large monitor or tegu lizard, a 9 ft boa or python, and the American alligator. We will also have a mini zoo with 10-14 smaller animals (including bugs, frogs, snakes, lizards) on display. 

  Everyone will have the opportunity to handle some of the animals after the program. There are opportunities for volunteers to come up and assist throughout the presentation.
