More than 700 members of the Wellesley community receive SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits. Wellesley Mothers Forum has gathered a list of immediate needs for the community, in light of the federal government shutdown and uncertainty of timely funding of SNAP benefits. Please see below for ways in which we can support our community in a time of unprecedented food insecurity:
Wellesley Food Pantry Gift Card Drive
The Wellesley Food Pantry would like to distribute grocery store gift cards to clients to help fill the current gap. Please consider purchasing Roche Bros. or Stop and Shop grocery gift cards. The Pantry plans to distribute in increments of $50, but we can combine cards to reach that amount so any denomination is very appreciated.
You can drop grocery gift cards off at 9 Marvin Road in Wellesley.
A Place To Turn Diaper & Food Drive
A Place to Turn is already seeing an increase in pantry visits and expects that to continue in the coming weeks. They added an additional 40 appointments a week to accommodate the need. A list of their most needed items is below. You can drop any of these items off at 9 Marvin Road in Wellesley.
